人間の死亡率は100％です。どのような人であろうとも確実なことです。いわ
ば自然界の一員として野自然界の摂理＝真理には逆らえないのです。冒頭から不
幸の話で恐縮ですが、私の父が91歳であの世へと旅立ちました。
農をする中で「天寿を全うさせる｝という発想を聞いたのが30年以上前ですが、
妙に納得した事を覚えています。それは、お米作りの中で人間は、いかに多収する
か、いかに防除するか、などと人間の都合で栽培技術を進めてきた事に対して、
全く違った捉え方でした。
人間の都合で、機械化、化学肥料、化学農薬で栽培をコントロールする技術が
近代農業として広く普及したのですが、お米＝稲の本来の育ち方に立ち返って育
てる。そして天寿を全うさせることが農に関わることではないか、というのです。
農薬の化学肥料も無い数千年数百年という時間を生き延びてきた地球の生命の
一部を人間は利用し生き延びています。食糧不足の解消のために、生き延びるた
めに人類は研究し、科学(化学）を発達させて来ましたが、本来の生命の本質から
離れてしまったのではないか、という反省もあります。
人間も自然、生態系の一員と考えれば生死は摂理です。人間の考えを超越した
真理なのでしょう。
自然農や有機農業というという発想もその根っこはそんなところにあるのでは
ないかと思うのです。本来の自然の摂理の中で精一杯の命が全うできるように育
てる、それが本来の農なのではないか、という思いです。
認知症を患い、5月に脳梗塞になり右半身の自由がきかなくなり、最後は家族で
介護自宅で永眠しました。自身の命を全うできたのではないか、天寿を全うした
のだ、と思います。
お米や野菜たちも無農薬が良いのではなく、薬や化学に頼らず命一杯に、全う
できたものであるからこそ、その意味があるのではないか、と思っています。
